I have always been the witty, sarcastic one in the family and amongst my friends. You know, the one who didn’t miss a thing and found a funny bone twist to almost every situation and every mispronounced word. And, in a lot of ways what you’d call a closet comedian. I also have a unique way of writing what is thought, said, or heard. So at the encouragement of my momma, my auntie, some great friends and the moment that caused me to create that first card, I decided to dive into the greeting card bizness. Here’s wut had happened…it was a cool, breezy evening in October, the day before my husband’s birthday and I wanted to get him a card. Well, he had gotten on my last nerve that evening so in order to keep from bussin’ him in the head I took the opportunity to get a break and went to the store. While I was there I decided to go ahead and buy him a birthday card since his birthday was the next day. So even though as I was walking around the store cussin’ him out in my mind(u know how we do) I began browsing thru the cards when I realized that even though there were cards that somewhat represented our ethnicity there weren’t any cards that met my emotional state of being (mad black woman holding a grudge), yet still honored the occasion. I needed a card like this:
